The "artist formerly known as Prince" owned that club I used to go there all the time.īut do you remember that spot when it was called Vertigo? " Part II, the Metal Years" is also great I've never seen the third. Definitely a great film and really slams home how much rawer and, well, punk, the music was back then, even compared to the underground punk of today. ![]() I finally acquired my own copy on laserdisc. I didn't see the original when it came out but I remember punks talking about "x-head." I saw it a little while later and at least once more after that. Regarding " The Decline of Western Civilization," there are Parts II & III. I'm reposting with additional non-musical details in the Nostalgia thread but I highly recommend catching this program if you have any interest in the L.A. Many extinct venues mentioned in this thread are shown, then and now: Cherie Curie and Rodney Bingenheimer provide a lot of talking head commentary. A substantial portion of the program is dedicated to the L.A. ![]() As if in response to this thread, KCET has released " Things That Aren't Here Anymore 3" and has been airing it as part of their pledge break programming.
